Two words: dirt soup
That's right, dirt soup greeted 'Gang Green' at the Snohomish race. Jud Miller, mired (pun intended) by semi-slick treads, still managed to make the top ten in the Men's Cat 4 race. His 9th place finish distanced him a bit from series leader Olivier Hombert. Derik Andreoli just missed a top ten finish in that same race. He finished 11th, and now sits in 14th place in the series after missing the Donida race.
In the Women's 3 race, Beth Oldroyd finished 14th, which moved her into 6th in the series.
In the Women't 4 race, Karen James finished 19th despite rolling across the line with brakes rubbing and a flat front tire! She now sits in 15th spot for the series.
In the Men's Master 3 (35+) race, J, Charlie, and Peter rolled across the finish line just positions away from each other (22nd, 26th, and 28th, respectively). J now finds himself in the lucky 13th place for the series. Charlie sits in 20th position, but is looking to move up into the top ten, and Peter is in 26th place.
Finally, David James suffered through what has been described by some as 'sucky' conditions. He finished in 23d, and slipped one position in the series race. He is now 8th.

It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood, and the JoeBarbarians represented once again. Wilbur Kelly kicked major booty finishing 1st in the Master 3 (35+) race. Shooting off the front at the start, the rest of the Master 3's saw nothing but an advert for Mary Ann Fordyce for the rest of the race. He now sits 5 points out of first place in the series race.
In the Men's Cat 4 race, Judson Miller finished in 2nd position, and he too finds himself in 2nd place for the series, just 9 points behind the series leader.
Despite losing her chain and bouncing her head off the the ground (Bell Helmets rule!), Beth Oldroyd finished in 11th place in the Women's 3 race. She now finds herself in a heated battle in the series. With 269 points, Beth sits in 7th place, just 2 points ahead of her closest rival, and only 6 points behind 5th place.
In the Men's Cat 4 race, David James just missed a top 10 finish. Coming through the finish line in 11th position, David earned enough points to retain his 7th place in the series. He too faces heated competition... only 3 points separate him from the two guys who are tied for 8th place, and only 5 points lay between him and 6th place.
Charlie Bartlett, who raced the Master Men's 3 (35+) race with Wilbur, J, and Peter, finished in 13th, earning him enough points to move up to 23d for the series (not bad considering he's only raced 3 of 4 races). J Juelis finished in 21st place. He now finds himself in 13th place in the series. Peter Stocker rounded out the Master Men's 3 (35+) field. He finished 28th and sits in 28th position in the series.
In the Cat 4 Women's race, Karen James finsihed in 27th place. She is in 25th for the series (she too has only made it to 3 of rhe first 4 series races).

Ahhhh, rain... sweet, wet rain...
Kelly Creek was the site of the third race of the Seattle Cyclocross Series, and 8 bunnies competed. David James (Cat 4 35+) earned 55 points for his 13th place finish, which pushed him into 8th place for the series.
In the Cat 4 race, Judson Miller raced into 5th place, and he now sits in 2nd place just 4 points behind the Cat 4 series leader. In the same race, Derik Andreoli just made the top 20 (despite rolling off the front at the start), and moved up one postion to 8th in the series.
In the Cat 3 35+ race, Wilbur Kelly once again impressed all competitors. Despite falling to last place after dropping his chain on the first turn, Wilbur raced his way into fourth place. In the series he sits comfortably in 3d place. Look for him to battle with the other podium contenders next week. In the same race, Peter Stocker showed heart after going down on the first lap. He finished in 29th spot, just two spots ahead of J Juelis - who rode an epic race --- Flatting less than halfway through the second to last lap, Joules Killawatts was forced to run much of that lap. After a not-so-speedy wheel change (sorry 'bout that J!) J churned his way through a number of riders.
In the women's camp, Karen James rode well, and finished smiling in 18th in the Cat 4 race. Beth Oldroyd powered her way to 11th in the Cat 3 race. She now sits in 7th place for the series. Well done, everyone!

Despite perfect weather - unless you think that cyclocross just isn't cyclocross without rain, snow, or mud - only one bunny raced at the first ever Crosstoberfest race at St. Edward's Park. Derik Andreoli led the pain train of one. Out of the gate, he led for most of the first lap, and lost one position on each of the five laps that constituted the Cat 4 race. With a 6th place finish, he was just out of the booty, but there's always next year!
2. October 2006
Another warm and dry day meant racers were greeted with dusty conditions down in South SeaTac today. Altogether eight bunnies competed in this second race of the Seattle Cyclocross Series. All suffered, and some had worse luck than others (report to come), but come Wednesday, all the pain will be forgotten... again....
Results: The strongest performance of the day (at least when measured by race results!) was put in by Jud Miller who finished 2nd in the Men's 4 race and he is now tied for first place in the series. Another strong performance was put in by Wilbur Kelly in the Men's 3 race. Despite a flat and losing his chain multiple times, Wilbur managed to finish 10th which earned him enough points to remain on the podium for the series (3d overall).
Looking as strong as ever, Beth Oldroyd harnessed the power of some neon green cupcakes and worked herself into 12th for the race and 9th for the series. In the Master Men 4 (35+) race, David James rode to 14th. He now sits 10th in the series. Derik Andreoli looked as confused as ever when confronted by sandpit after sandpit, but that didn't stop him from having fun. Finishing 17th, he slipped up into 9th for the series. With both brakes working and both tires full of air, Charlie smiled his way to 19th in the Master Men 3 race. He now sits 18th overall. J Juelis finished in 26th position in that same race, and he now sits in 16th position for the series. Rounding out the bunny field, Peter Stocker came in 30th after battling the heat in this, his second race in as many days. Good job to all!
