A few bunnies went down to Boat Street on Easter Sunday to race the Brad Lewis Memorial Crit.

Dan raced the cat 3 race and decided midway through that he would rather watch than ride. Although he did not finish, he was the only rider at the race who rode their carbon wheeled race rig towing a "Bob" with a trainer inside. That looked like more fun than the race anyhow!

Aaron and Thad raced the Masters C race while hoping the sky wouldn't open up and pour. After a warm-up and a little pep talk from J and Wilbur (participating as fans / pit crew) it was game-on. A few laps into it and a prime was called. Thad decided that he needed a new pair of socks, so he hit it hard and nearly got it. He pushed himself so hard that he ran out of gas and watched the last few laps of the race from the sideline. It was a brave move for a first time crit rider! Meanwhile Aaron was drafting off everyone he could to stay in the top 5-8. With 4-5 laps to go he decided to try to bridge a huge gap to the leader who was off the front. The bridge never occurred, but Aaron was able to stay ahead of the field just long enough to capture a 2nd place bunny finish on Easter!

It was another busy weekend for the Joe Bar Bunnies. Some stayed in town to train on Cougar Mountain while others went out to race. David James and Beth Oldroyd went north to Bellingham to the North Shore Road Race. David served as one of the race officials and Beth raced in the women's category 4 race. On Sunday several Bunnies headed south to race mountain bikes. Dan Wren, Brian Estocapio, Derik Andreoli, Charlie Bartlett, Thad Boss and Matt Clark all raced the 2nd Indie Series Mountain Bike Race. The course dealt some serious climbs and mud but the Joe Bar Bunnies rallied to a strong finish. Rounding out the weekend of racing was Leo Katolik's fine showing at the first race of the Carnation Time Trial Series. Check out our results!
