West Side Mountain Bike Series #2

Brief Report by: Barry Campbell
The second race of the West Side MTB Series brought sub-freezing temperatures, which did little
to help the warm-up efforts of the 5 well-insulated bunnies that showed up to race. Ben, Derik,
Shawn, Becky and I all entered the Beginner race. Ben forgot his shorts, but otherwise things
went fine until most of the way through the second lap, when D's rear rim separated with a loud
bang. Ben crashed shortly after that, but picked himself up in time to continue on with me. I
sent him on ahead, thinking he might have a chance to chase down some of the guys ahead, but, as
it turned out, Shawn was just ahead of us, and the two in the lead were in my category. So I guess
J was right as he kept yelling at me to pedal faster. All in all, a fun day, and we did pretty
well.

Ben Ulness 4th overall, 2nd 19-34 men
Barry Campbell 5th overall, 3rd 35-44 men
Becky Pittman 15th overall, 2nd 19-34 women
