Volunteer Park, Masters State Crit

7 August 2005
Report by: Barry Campbell

There were plenty of people there to watch, as Ben, Leo, J, Wilbur, Shawn, Peter, and Jeff started the Masters C crit. The action started early, as Shawn and Wilbur took turns near the front, chasing the ambitious riders who were giving it a shot off the front. Shawn, Wilbur, Ben, and Peter were all looking good with about 10 minutes to go, when someone got a little too squirrely in the entry to the water tower curve. Ben got taken down in the carnage, and Peter was forced out of the race as well. Unfortunately, Ben's season is now over, with a broken bone in his hand, but he's got some good road rash scars to show off...

Shawn got boxed in and couldn't contest the sprint, and Wilbur ended up with him, about 20th or so. Not the most successful day in Joe Bar Racing's history, but memorable for the mass sprint to see if Ben was okay if nothing else.
