Rainier Roubaix

26 March 2006
Report by: Peter Stocker

Given the opportunity to re-live our glory days from last cross season, the bunnies took to the gravel at the 2nd annual Raniner Roubaix in Yelm, Washington. The race was made more interesting this year with screaming headwinds and some potholes capable of housing small mammals. The Cat 4 Men rolled out at about 9am with J, Wilbur, Nick, Ben, Shawn and Peter all in the bunch. Pushing the pace and doing at least our share of the work we came out of the last lap with 4 of us still in the hunt. Shawn had the legs to contend the sprint and pulled off a podium finish of 3rd. Peter, J and Nick all wrapped up in the top 10. Beth muscled her way to the podium in the Cat 4 Women with a strong 3rd place, and the 2nd Joe Bar podium for the day. The woman makes it look easy. Recap = 0 flats, 2 podiums, 5 top tens, one crash (not Ben) and a burning desire to return for more fun next year. Thanks to The Valley Athletic Organizers - it was a cool race.

Shawn Larson 3rd Cat 4 Men
