Indie Series #5, Bavarian Bike and Brew Fest

3 June 2006
Report by: Peter Stocker

We packed up the kids and the wives and headed to the little bit of Bavaria known
as Leavenworth for Saturday's Race 5# of the Indie Series MTB races. As Ben and Barry
and others can remember, it is a dead flat course except for the 1800 feet of climbing
each lap, and the countless water bars on the 10 min. descent. Charlie, smiling, was first
off and came in an admirable 9th in a tough field of Sport 30-39ers. He would tell you
himself he had a little left in the tank at the end, so expect he will be leaving major
organs on the trail in Methow Valley this weekend. I (peter) watched in horror as the
other Peter climbed away from me on lap 2- but I kept it together, finished 12th (sport
40-49), and even caught some major air on the downhill section (maybe). It was good fun.
The schnitzel flowed, and the sausages got tucked away, and we can only wonder how wet
D and Nk got on Sunday riding Devil's Ridge.
